The Liberals Attacking McCain on His Military Record???

Yes,,, I do wish Ronny was still here or even better yet Teddy.... But  I need to be a grown-up this year...

While I do not like much of the political decisions that McCain has made, I can respect him as a man.

The liberals are now dredging up all sorts of stuff about his military career that they hope will stink like old dog poop during the spring thaw....

The problem is, none of those bone headed liberals have any clue as to just what makes you a good military man or regular man for that matter.

And what could they possibly have to complain about now?

1. McCain had a bad temper at the Naval Academy and liked to fight.
In the old Navy you were a pansy if you didn't.  I like guys who like to win.  Particularly in the seat of an Attack Plane  or in the Oval Office.

2. McCain supposedly was involved in some plane crashes.
No kidding, he was a flippin Naval Aviator,  they land at night, on a moving ship at over 120 knots, while trying to catch a cable, with a hook the size of your arm.
Heck fire, one of the planes they are complaining about was hit by a rocket from another US Plane!  While getting ready for a mission on the USS Forrestal, McCain's plane was smacked by an accidentally fired rocket.  It burst into flames while loaded with fuel and bombs.  McCain just barely made it out the the plane before it blew up.  Yet the idiot liberals (see commie America hater) actually added that to a list of planes that they believe McCain squandered while on active duty....Man we really need a draft so these idiots would have some clue..

3. McCain used his family name to get back onto flying status after 5 years of being tortured by the communist. Even though he may not have been at 100%.
Good on him.  I would have done anything (to include unnatural acts on camera) as well.  So would any other pilot who was worth anything.  Us pilots do that sort of thing...It's called sucking it up and moving on with life...

4. McCain was known as a Ladies Man who often partied all night and managed to hook up with a new woman every where he landed.
Double good on him!  He was a flippin sailor, we expected that of real men back when we had a real Navy.  That just shows he was not gearing his military time towards being a politician.
If he would have been homosexual, he now would be the darling of the Democratic party.
By the way, he has been married and is married now.  With a few Kids, who are also serving this country...
I was in the Navy, "Besides two other branches"  So I will never throw stones about chasing skirts...

5. McCain was known at one time as being a hard drinker.
30-50 years ago....No, kidding!  See all the above.... We in the military and even those in Police / Firefighter circles have a saying.  " I would rather hire a man who knows what it is like to be kicked out of every bar in town, than hire a guy would has never seen the inside of one."  In way of dramatic comparison, let us consider General U. S.  Grant,,, against.... oh.. how about Jimmy Carter.... Need I say more.
6.McCain used his family influence to stay in the Navy after being released as a POW.
And just what the heck is wrong with that......????
In fact, that one act gives me much more respect for him than any other!  He could have easily  jumped out, been a sniveling victim on TV and thrown his medals at the White House... Then he would have been a Democrat Senator for all those extra years instead of sticking it out in the Navy...

McCain may not be what us conservatives really wanted and I would have no beef with someone voting for a real conservative  should one suddenly appear..
But when I see the mind set of the liberal / socialist camp, along with their absurd objections to McCain's character....

I see that this election is going to be about much more than degrees of conservatism

We are right on the brink of loosing the whole shooting match my friends.  It is right down to complete socialist induced anarchy or a semi-Republican who has a good personal chartacter along with his political shortcomings..

So I am signing on to cruise with Captain McCain USN ret.
It may turn out more like a cruise with the Sea-Wolf himself,  but I will never doubt which flag is flying from the mast.

Saw some infiltrators first hand

Lefty infiltrators

We recently volunteered our services during the local Republican preference poll. A poor mans primary of sorts.   Out of the 375 voters that we personally assisted, we noted that about 115 of them registered as Instant Republicans on the spot.   UNFORTUNATELY, many of them then quickly requested another form so they could run back down the street and attend the Democratic Parties shin-dig. (Their parking lot was full of Subarus, that seemed to be held together by twenty or so bumper stickers each)   Since we had no choice but to overhear many of their conversations, it became more than obvious that many were there only to throw the vote within the Republican Party. While we had previously considered this to be a possibility, we did not expect to see it on such a large scale.

We would also note that many of them were quite confused by Ron Paul being on the Republican ballot. It would seem that this particular herd of pot-smokers thought he was going to appear on the list being fronted by the good comrades down the street…

Who is throwing the elections?

While listening to various radio talk shows, we noted that several callers called to find out if they could register as a member one political party during the Alaska Caucus and then change back to their previous party immediately after the voting takes place.

Obviously this type of mischief is geared towards throwing an election.  For instance, if numerous Democrats changed their registration to the Republican party during the primary voting, they could insure that a conservative candidate was knocked out of the running by either splitting the votes or by momentarily supporting a liberal or Libertarian candidate.  McCain may have done something close to this during today's primary in West Virginia.  Thus Huckabee won, while he has no chance of a national endorsement.   Basically a McCain win. Which may turn itself into a Democrat win.

Odd how serious decisions are often made by people with the morals of used car salesmen.

Unfortunately we may get worse in our final choice of candidates.

Republican Party gives conservatives the heave-ho….

Republican Party gives conservatives the heave-ho….

Why did all the real conservatives find themselves cut from the Republican primary ticket before most of the country was able to vote?   Because many of the first primaries were open for anyone to vote.  Thus liberals were able to upset the apple cart and trim the conservatives from the Republican ticket before the majority of the voters could voice their opinions.

Thus the conservatives no longer have a true conservative candidate running under the Republican party banner.  This will more than likely result in a last minute third party conservative candidate, Like Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party.

This will split the vote and ensure a liberal victory.

The second attack will come in the form of conservative voter apathy.  Many people simply will not vote.  Thus, another sure thing for the liberal socialist who now call themselves Democrats.

Of course there is always the liberal fall back position, just in case their Democratic Party liberal socialist candidates become irritating to the point that they fail to win as Democrats.   John McCain wins the office and the liberals still have a partial win.

Alaska Kids, killing unborn kids OK

Back in 1997 Alaska law was revised to require that young girls under the age of 17 only be allowed to obtain an abortion with parental permission.  Of course the Planned Parenthood folks (who never met an unborn kid, who did not need killing)  immediately took the issue to court.

This week the Alaska Supreme Court sided with Planned Parenthood and ruled that younger girls can continue to obtain abortions without any parental consent.

That includes girls under the age of 15 !

In our fair state an 18.9 year old girl can be criminally sited for using Tobacco.
A 20.9 year old girl can go to jail for having a beer in her own home.
A teenager under 18 can't even obtain a tattoo in Anchorage with parental consent.

But they sure as heck can undergo a surgical procedure which has very severe and long lasting consequences.

What the heck is wrong with those idiots in our Supreme Court?

High Price gas, adds high risk to US

We have wandered into town upon occasion and noted the excessive increases in heating oil, aviation and auto fuel prices.    The trickle down effect is now affecting everything from mail delivery prices to grocery cost.

So how about the profit side for the huge petroleum producers?  Well they are indeed setting record profits, which unfortunately makes them thirsty for more.

Let us not forget about the end of the money trail,  the Saudis and other assorted Persian Gulf countries.   Those of us who have been there know that huge oil profits have built unbelievable cities and businesses on ground once only trodden by the occasional camel.  All built on imported labor by the way...

Unfortunately those profits also build Muslim schools in the US and Europe.  They also directly fund various terror organizations and directly assist in the deaths of us non-believers.

So look on the bright side, while heating your home becomes impossible, along with feeding your family and driving to work, all the cash we have fed to those sworn to murder you has helped make them the number one baby producers in Europe and some parts of Canada.   And the rest of North America is just around the corner...

Well time to split more wood  to heat the house.

FRED THOMPSON, Almost in...

We managed to endure a few minutes of prime time TV late night shows to watch former Senator Fred Thompson almost throw his hat into the ring.

We have reviewed his remarks concerning various subjects and find him to be fairly level headed in his writings.
We do not yet know how he will be able to react to non-scripted retorts, insults and remarks from the socialist.

We were rather happy with the way he moderated his answers on regular (lefty) TV.
While it is true that we personally like a deep-water conservative firebrand, we also need someone who can be elected.

You always drive much further in the car you can afford, compared to the one at the showroom that is out of your price range.

Excuse received from a Republican Legislator on unmarried benefits.

We received an excuse from Alaska Rep. Seaton (the guy who wears the fishermans cap for the camera who claims to supposedly be a Republican) regarding his failure to vote for us to have another voice on the same-sex State benefits issue.

Of course he made specific mention of those who have an opposition to such benefits on religious grounds.   Seaton at one point claimed to be taking a purely legal view, yet at another point said he was voting his conscience.  Hmm, politician and conscience, two words not often seen in the same sentence..

Oddly enough, this issue has already been embraced, after a fashion, by another group with strong religious ties. (Well at least governmentally approved religious ties)..

In other parts of the US and Europe, Islamic movement members have already latched onto this benefits for non-married couples idea.
Not for same sex couples, since Muslim law forbids that with a death penalty (although those of us who have been to the middle-east have witnessed differently), but instead as a legal platform to obtain State and welfare benefits rights via polygamy.  It would seem that many of these new-age Islamic types think that not only should women be inferior, but that men should have more than one inferior wife.

Of course that was illegal in the US, Canada and Europe until the homosexual movement opened the door for benefits being extended to anyone who cannot legally marry.  Since almost all of the US, Canadian and European based terrorist came from a welfare background, it is easy to see the long term planning.  Employment would no doubt get in the way of planning the next Jihad.

What a great way to increase to strain on the taxpayers and the already overburdened State retirement system.

Representative Seaton sure has helped us out on this one....

Our taxdollars for PBS debates

While gazing at a historical program (well at least one version of history) on PBS, we here at the homestead were amazed to hear the following broadcast schedule.

Jun. 28, 2007: PBS hosts a debate of the 2008 Democratic presidential candidates at Howard University in Washington, DC

Sep. 27, 2007: PBS hosts a debate of the 2008 Republican presidential candidates at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD

We often question the place of taxpayer dollars in broadcasting television.

In this case we certainly question the use of our taxpayer dollars to beam political debates into our homes.

While we expected the democrats to jump on the spending somebody else’s money bandwagon, we are somewhat ashamed that the Republicans did not take to high road on this issue.

Setting aside the fact that PBS has no history of being neutral in political matters,,,, did we give them permission to squander our funds in this manner?

Let me get this straight;
Tax money for Troops in the field of battle, bad.
Our tax dollars for illegal aliens, bad art, failed social programs and now polical promotion, good..

Thirty Years after Jimmy Carter

Thirty years after Jimmy Carter

Back in 1977, (that is thirty years ago for you modern public school folks) we found ourselves serving in a military commanded by Jimmy Carter.

Military units did not have enough money for cleaning supplies, much less combat.
Within months there were gas lines leading away from every fueling station as folks attempted to buy the fuel required for their work commute.

As his administration continued, Central America fell into the hands of various communist juntas, Iran was overrun with Islamic radicals and Americans were taken hostage.

Here in the U.S. we had run-away inflation, big government land grabs and a new Federally imposed 55 mile per hour speed limit.

Had it not been for the release of the movie “Star Wars”, many a teenager from the late 1970s would not have known that there really were good guys and bad guys.

We still remember the immense relief during the hours following the election of Ronald Reagan, (four years later), particularly for those of us who were serving overseas. One minute our troops were not fit to frequent the streets of most third world of countries, as we were then considered cowards on the world stage. The next minute, there was a total realignment of world opinion, followed buy a couple months of anticipation.

As we all know, there then followed eight years of US national growth and the collapse of the Soviet empire.  Plus a good butt-kicking for a couple tin-pot dictators!

Now thirty years after the country embarrassed itself by placing Jimmy Carter in the White House, we have a new patch of voters who are not old enough to remember the havoc that a liberal Democratic party inflicted on the county three decades ago.

Unfortunately we also have a fair share of voters who are old enough to remember, but seem hell-bent on racking the country over the coals one more time. Some of those folks claim to belong to our party.

When you have elected officials who want to cut the food and anmo off from troops in the field, while at the same time throw our tax dollars to thousands of law breakers who have illegally invaded our country,,,,,
well,,,, we have big problems.....

Conservative Voters Dream team

Our lovely bride and we were preparing the floatplane last night when we noted a couple old bolts that needed to be replaced. When one is several thousand feet above mother earth, one would rather not have the wings fall off the aircraft. It is common practice for everything in aviation to be a tad bit oversized and over strength.

Now to the thoughts that creep into our mind while working next to that windy runway.

Aviation designers engineer extra strength and flexibility for those occasions when we pilots take the aircraft past the point of normal operations.

We conservatives who believe in adhering to the Constitution could use a bit of over-engineering right about now. Our culture, borders, Constitution and general way of life are in a buffeting stall. Should we let the current batch of drunken pilots in Washington continue at the controls, we will all be in for one heck of a flat spin right into the ground.

What we conservatives need now is a sure thing, not to be confused with an easy compromise. The former Mayor of New York has commented that he can harvest a large part of the liberal vote. While the Senator from Arizona champions non-conservative causes when he is not in the mist of an anger outburst.

What these two Republicans-in-name-only do not understand is that most of the conservative voters in the United States know the difference between bull dung and bacon.

Unfortunately the current crop of so-called Republican front-runners will ensure a win for the Democratic Party and their legions of Sunday Socialist. This would be true regardless of which party name appears on the ballot, since there is scant difference between the current neo-Marxist democrat party candidates and the compromise to anything Republican frontrunners.

We conservatives are a picky lot and it may be near impossible to find candidates that will suit us all. We do need something less common and more inventive to pull us out of our impending spin.

So while handing a wrench across to our lovely bride, we noted that the job at hand was impossible for one person. That is when it struck us that our current political situation is too far gone for one person. What we need now is some good old American team Work.

What would happen if ,,,,,
..the former
Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Senator Fred Thompson and current senator Duncan Hunter all went on stage and announced that they were running as a team.
President, Vice President and Secretary of State (or sec-def)

Can you imagine a team of candidates who all agreed on their roles? Not for themselves, but for the country.

It is our belief that the aforementioned team ticket would steam roll the opposition during the next election.

Jimmy Carter calling names again

We here on the homestead took a break from our annual break-up cleaning (the spring thaw for you non-Alaskans), just in time to hear former President Carter insulting the current White House administration.

We had the displeasure of serving on active duty under Jimmy Carter during the dark days of his administration. One would wonder how anyone could forget gas lines, runaway inflation, poor military wages, lack of equipment and no indication of a national policy.

While we will admit that the only true genius in the current administration is Condi Rice, we wonder just where Mr. Carter came upon the idea that he had some sort of moral high ground.

Of course one could consider the source;  being called incompetent by Jimmy Carter is somewhat like being called stupid by Mike Tyson. We are not sure it really counts.

Slap in the face to real immigrants

Congress kicks the real immigrants in the teeth,

While fortifying our defensive perimeter here on the homestead, we caught sight of more national news. It would appear that various political numbskulls think we need to fast track citizenship to the masses of illegal aliens now who now squat in our country.

We here on the Alaskan homestead are not opposed to immigrants in any way, in fact our lovely Mrs Sourdough came here LEGALLY some 25 years ago and earned her citizenship, served in the US military for 13 years and has earned a PHd. The difference being the words LEGAL and American.

In the most recent case, we are faced with hundreds of thousands of individuals who violated our laws and our borders. They have drained our tax base while avoiding responsibility for carrying their fair share of the load. They also hold themselves in contempt for our way of life, preferring to maintain the culture of the country from which they fled.

We are indeed a nation built by immigrants. However, those old world immigrants came here to be Americans, not to continue life as a colonial outpost representing some third world nation. They may have come from Poland, Germany, Ireland, China or Italy, but their kids all spoke US English, they built new towns and cities across the west and they all rallied around Old Glory when it came time to put things right in the countries of their birth.

This current situation circling the toilet bowl of congress is a slap in the face to all those legal immigrants still waiting to EARN their citizenship. What we have here are two groups wanting to buy a house. The first group finds a job, builds up credit and applies to the bank. The second group, lies, steals and breaks into the house. The flaming idiots in our congress think that the second group should get the green light to not only stay there, but give them the title free and clear as well.!!!

As we grunts used to say in nasty situations involving confusing orders, Whiskey- Tango-Foxtrot???

Republican Paladin is loosing it!

Republican Paladin is loosing it!

Here in the Last Frontier many of us hang our hat on the fence-post of aviation.

Many a homestead is supplied mail, food, building supplies, appliances and even returning college-age offspring through the wonders of commercial and Bush aviation.

Of course there are those who would love to over-tax this frail thread that tethers us last true Americans to the outside world.

So the politicians dreamed up a $25-per-flight air traffic control user fee—disguised as a "surcharge" in the Senate's latest FAA funding bill.   Although at the same time they cut a fuel tax for the major heavy airlines, (we wonder who greased who on this account?)

Of course the general aviation community rose up in protest, but apparently not quite enough, (or maybe the airlines have a larger wallet) because the amendment that would have deleted the $25 per- flight tax was defeated by ONE VOTE, A vote which came from the least expected place, TED STEVENS.

From the AOPA web site.

“Even Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who cast the tie-breaking vote to keep user fees in the bill, did so with hesitation. Referring to the effect of user fees on aircraft flying in Alaska, he said he thought there was "a bit of unfairness" in the bill, but he wanted to send it to the Senate floor……”

We here on the homestead noted that the only other Republican who voted to tax every flight was none other than John McCann, who is really much more of a Democrat than most registered Democrats.

So how did our Alaskan Paladin, a former WWII fighter Pilot, decide to vote against the interest of Alaskan Airmen?  Is he finally loosing his grip?  We here on the homestead certainly hope not.  Of course the recent allegations concerning his State Senator son have us wondering about that old adage concerning the apple tree and just how far the apple falls.

All in all, a dark day for those of us who are considered conservative Republicans here in the Last Frontier.

We are a more Cranky Sourdough today.

Republican Debate, without any debate.

Here on the homestead we found ourselves compelled to watch a computer re-run of the last Republican debate, hoping that a conservative would float to the top. We are still somewhat confused as to just what was being debated.

While we Alaskans may appear to be somewhat “back-woodsy” we do know what a debate is supposed to be. Basically a civilized argument dreamed up by those folks in the lower 48 States. Something along the lines of Moose Meat versus Caribou or a Winchester rifle versus a Remington.

We had previously thought that such a debate would require the same question being asked of the various contestants. Apparently the word “debate” is now being used as a replacement for the term popularity contest. Here on the homestead we find that most of those who performed their acts during that debate, are now much less popular.

Some elections ago we found ourselves initially caught up with the Senator from Arizona, until we discovered that he was very far from a conservative and not that far from being unbalanced.

The former Mayor of New York seems to be the darling of the Foreign Press (anything outside Alaska, which now includes the Anchorage newspaper), but he has no base in conservative life whatsoever. Although we were impressed with his large ego which seems to rival that of the Arizona Senator.

The current third amongst those anointed by the press, the former Governor of that State which gave us the likes of John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, seemed to really enjoy his time on camera. But his obvious disregard for the Second Amendment leaves a taste in our mouths somewhat akin to stale porcupine tail. We do applaud him for supposedly being one of the few candidates who is still married to his first spouse. Although the generally personality of politicians makes us think of an old adage once told to us by a brother Peace Officer, “It is better to hire a Cop who has been thrown out of every bar in town, rather than a man who has never seen the inside of one” ...

Had there been any meaningful questions, we conservatives could have weeded out a few more of these semi-republicans. As it was, Fox News danced around asking questions about the Second Amendment like it was a pile of old bear scat. Had they really hammered that subject we suspect the Senator Duncan Hunter would have shined like a rainbow trout on a sunny afternoon. Since he appears to be a long term conservative we doubt that he will ever achieve much in the way of media support. Should he obtain popular support, we suspect that the media would turn on him like a pack of coyotes on a three legged rabbit.

Of course we did note the conspicuous absence of Fred Thompson and Newt. Both of whom either have the common sense not to get caught up in an early race which was prompted by the liberals and Sunday Socialist or perhaps neither has the overwhelming desire to bare themselves to the vulgar press and a rather uneducated voter base.

As things stand now, we are not impressed by the three leading Republican candidates, nor will we toss our vote out with the bathwater with some third party. We will hold onto our poles and hope for a better fish, but in the meantime we are stocking up for darker days ahead.
